Reward safety knowledge; not non-reporting of incidents!
Our safety contests will promote:
Employees thinking safety.
Employees talking safety.
Employees doing their own safety checks.
Here's all you do in 5 easy steps:
1. Purchase a TOON. Choose an education/contest TOON from our online inventory, or have one custom drawn for your site (pick a TOON that includes the most safety issues you're working on).
2. Hype the contest/talk about prizes. Be excited! Tell everyone about the upcoming contest and prizes and make it an event! Make it a voluntary event, for everyone - the President to the janitor can participate in the event!
3. Make copies/hand out to contestants. Make 8.5 x 11 copies of the TOON for all contestants and have them write down all the safety issues they find. Display the poster-size TOON in a high traffic area. (Though you might exclude management from prizes, encourage all entries!)
4. Judge the contest entries. Judge the entries for: most safety issues found / most interesting found/#1 safety issue found OR add/create your own categories for more fun!
5. Have an awards meeting! Award prizes: Go over safety issues found and relate them to your plant! Congratulate yourself, you just trained everyone to do a safety audit at your site; and they didn't even know it!
Don't be surprised when your staff finds more safety issues than we drew in the toon! (Mae and Zak above, has 30+. We have companies that have found 70+). Employees will remember
incidents from their work history and add to the list for you! It's THAT good!
